Natural Highlights- Hair and Skin beauty from within- 7 Day Detox

As promised I’ll be starting my 7 day Detox this week, prior to doing my little regime of researching what I eat on a daily basis and noting the health of my hair as a result. I will not be limiting things to hair only; I want all of you to feel beautiful all over.
So let’s gets started with the basics :-)
What is detoxing?
Think of a detox as spring cleaning your body: it’s a serious clean-out of all the junk and toxins you’ve accumulated over the last few months or even years. So why detox? Our bodies are like finely tuned engines, feed it with pure fuel and we get the optimum performance, feed it with cheaper lesser beneficial alternatives and it under performs. Why am I detoxing? Well though I generally eat healthy, I want to have a clean slat to understand how the foods I eat effect my hair and body. Plus I’ve been a bit naughty and indulging in foods I shouldn’t. Also with the volunteer work I’ve been doing recently, I’ve been working my day job then once a week during the night I help my underwater endangered friends, sea turtles, have a fighting chance at nesting. This means I’m slightly exhausted and filled up with junk I’ve been snacking on during my long hours.
Detoxing gives me a chance to rejuvenate my body after my long tiring days. As I cleanse my body internally I will take time off to just rest and relax. This will allow my liver and kidneys to do the work they need to, without the added stress from every day heavy physical activities. This means longer beach hours on the horizon for me :).
Though this is the perfect time to relax this does not mean I’ll be lazy. Detoxing involves more than just dietary changes. I’ll be taking the time to exercise, nothing to strenuous, maybe do some yoga on mornings, take a stroll through the park or walk along the beach (beach high on the list). Massages and simple homemade body scrubs and facials will also be done to keep me in the best of moods
The benefits of detoxing
Along with the obvious cleansing of all the toxins I’ve built up, I should feel more energized and boy I already too perky as is :-), less prone to mood swings and I should find it easier to both drop off to sleep at night and wake on mornings. I should have improved complexion, my skin should feel smoother and less dry as circulation improves, and this should in turn make my hair and nails stronger and healthier.
Side effects
Though they are plenty benefits to detoxing there are some downsides as well. These may include headaches, skin eruptions, as the body releases toxins through the skin and weight loss.
This is my share for now as I start my detox over the next week. My next entry will give a breakdown of the best foods to eat during a detox, their benefits and what I have on my menu to eat.
Note: I am not a nutritionist and this info is from my own personal research and previous experience with detoxing in the past. If you seek to undertake your own detox please do your own reading or contact you GP as detoxing is not for everyone. Feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts.
Jules xoxo
